According to local and security reports, the Boko Haram group attacked an army base in Cameroon’s Far North, resulting in the death of one soldier and injuries to many.

The attack happened early on Thursday morning at the military base in Bavangola, Cameroon.

After the incident, two militant corpses were discovered, and additional security forces were dispatched to the area, according to an army official who chose to remain anonymous.

The military repelled the terrorists’ raid and recovered the goats from Kolofata hamlet in the same area on Thursday, according to the official.

Since 2014, the Central African nation has been waging war against Boko Haram. Since December 2020, the armed group Boko Haram has intensified its attacks on residents in towns and villages in Cameroon’s Far North, resulting in the deaths of at least 80 civilians.

Following attacks by Boko Haram insurgents that drove more than 40,000 villagers from their homes over the previous two months, Cameron sent hundreds of troops to guard the border with Nigeria in May.

Meanwhile, in West African nation Mali, heavy gunfire erupted in the country’s main military base close to Bamako.
