Owo Catholic Church Assailants Will Pay For Their Crimes – Akeredolu

Governor of Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria, Rotimi Akeredolu has vowed to hunt down the perpetrators of the dastardly incident in Owo part of the state.

Akeredolu, who is from the town, left Abuja where he was preparing for the APC Presidential Convention slated to begin on Monday, after being informed of the incident.

Eyewitness accounts from the state said many were killed with conflicting figures as to the actual number of victims. Many bodies are also currently in the hospital receiving medical attention according to locals.

“I have received briefs from the Heads of Security agencies in the state. The assailants will be hunted down and they will pay for their crimes,” Akeredolu said.

The governor has also ordered that all flags in the state be flown at half-mast for the next seven days starting from Monday.

“In honour of the victims of the unfortunate attack on worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo, I hereby direct that all flags in Ondo State be flown at half-mast for seven days, starting from today, Monday, June 6, to Sunday, June 12, 2022”

He said the state will not be deterred to adequately respond to the terror unleashed on innocent lives as he called for caution from locals who may want to take the law into their hands.

“Those who unleashed this unprovoked terror attack on our people have tested our collective resolves. We will not be deterred in responding appropriately to this dastardly act.”
