Kylian Mbappe concluded his Paris St-Germain career with a French Cup final victory over Lyon, as Luis Enrique’s team secured the domestic double.

Ousmane Dembele scored PSG’s first goal with a header from Nuno Mendes’ cross at Lille’s Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Fabian Ruiz added a second, bundling the ball in after his initial attempt was blocked on the line by Lyon’s Irish defender Jake O’Brien.

O’Brien, 23, gave Lyon a glimmer of hope by heading in from Rayan Cherki’s corner, marking his fifth goal since joining from Crystal Palace last summer.

Mbappe, 25, departs as PSG’s all-time leading scorer with 256 goals in 308 appearances since his 2017 transfer from Monaco.

He is widely anticipated to join Real Madrid, concluding their eight-year pursuit of him.

During his seven years at PSG, Mbappe won six Ligue 1 titles, four French Cups, and two League Cups.

He only started two of PSG’s final seven league matches as Luis Enrique prepared for the future without him, though he did start the cup final.

    Fans clash before kick-off – 100km away

Violent clashes erupted between fans approximately 100km away at the A1 motorway toll in Fresnes-les-Montauban as they traveled to the game.

Rival supporters fought at the toll booth and a nearby service station, setting one bus on fire and damaging four others.

At least eight police officers were injured in the altercations.

“These are sporting events which should be about joy and sport, I condemn this violence with the greatest firmness,” French President Emmanuel Macron, who was at the game, told media.
