A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has warned that the party faces a disastrous outcome in the 2027 elections if it fails to resolve its internal divisions.
Speaking at a press conference at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos, the former PDP Deputy National Chairman attributed the party’s ongoing crisis to self-inflicted disputes and called for immediate unity.
“We’ve found ourselves in our current situation due to a self-inflicted crisis. We should bury our individual ambition now and not allow the PDP to crumble. Elders of the party should tell those funny characters to calm down,” Bode George said.
The PDP chieftain expressed deep concern over the party’s leadership turmoil, particularly the recent dispute over the position of national secretary, which he described as a “national embarrassment.”
George condemned the violent disruption of the 79th Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting in Abuja, where thugs allegedly invaded the PDP secretariat, calling the incident “horrific, inhuman, and unacceptable.”

“It is disheartening that the PDP, the bastion of civility, humility, decorum, harmony and respect for the rule of law since 1998 when it was formed by elders, seems to be losing these values,” he lamented.
He accused certain individuals within the party of working to destroy it and urged the leadership to take decisive action against those responsible for the crisis.
“If they are not ready to embrace peace, they should step aside and allow the party to move past the current turmoil. Enough of this arrant nonsense. As leaders, we must not allow anybody to destroy our party because PDP is the only true national party. The APC is just a mere congregation of strange bed fellows. This is the time to show members working against our party the way out. No sentiment at all. Anything else will be suicidal,” he said.
George also criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), calling it a mere “congregation of strange bedfellows.” He urged PDP leaders to discipline party members undermining internal unity, warning that failure to act could spell doom for the party.
Additionally, he called on the Nigerian government to implement sustainable economic policies to address the country’s economic challenges.
