Africa’s style geniuses graced two of its biggest cities and we are still in awe of the ingenuity, creativity and craftsmanship that was on display.

On October 24, 2019, the fashion enthusiasts gathered in Lagos and Johannesburg as models elegantly walked the runways in vibrant and edgy designs. Some of the best contemporary African designers were in the spotlight at the Lagos Fashion Week and South Africa Fashion Week respectively.

Bright eyes, chiselled cheeks, straight shoulders and lean figures, Africa’s daring design expressions were all on display as two African cities rolled out the runways for their amazing fashion industries.

The fashion industry in Africa has a different energy. There’s a vibe with different influences and appeal. You can’t miss it. It was in every stride, in the smug faces and the aura, all oozing confidence in the spotlight.

One common and interesting feature at these Fashion Weeks is the fact that most of the pieces on display are just the right amount of edgy and confident. Unlike many other fashion shows, you can easily take most of these looks from the runway to the streets.

The first day at the Lagos Fashion Week featured designs from ILI Nigeria, Jermaine Bleu, Rick Dusi, Studio 189, Bloke creations, Orange Culture, DZYN Official, Eki Silk, Yutee Rone, Idma-Nof hat creation and Wuman Creation.
