The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has issued a warning to the public regarding a fraudulent recruitment link being circulated online, claiming to offer jobs at the newly revamped Port Harcourt refinery.
In a statement released on Friday, Olufemi Soneye, the company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, emphasised that there is no separate recruitment process beyond the one initiated last year.
Soneye further clarified that candidates who successfully completed the computer-based aptitude test as part of the recruitment process have now advanced to the interview stage, which commenced this week.
“The purported recruitment link being circulated in various online platforms is the handiwork of fraudsters who are keen on taking advantage of the newly revamped Port Harcourt Refinery to fleece unsuspecting members of the public with a phantom recruitment announcement,” Soneye said.
“We, therefore, call on members of the public to be wary of the ploy and not fall for it.”
On November 26, the Port Harcourt refinery resumed crude oil processing after being inactive for several years.
Additionally, the refinery began loading petroleum products onto trucks. The NNPC stated that the refinery is currently operating at 70 per cent of its installed capacity, with plans to increase operations to 90 per cent in the near future.
