President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to veteran Nollywood actor, comedian, singer, and scriptwriter, Nkem Owoh, MON, as he marks his 70th birthday.
In a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu praised Owoh’s immense contributions to Nigeria’s entertainment industry, hailing him as one of its most cherished figures.
The President commended Owoh’s dedication to storytelling, which has not only entertained millions but also showcased Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage on a global stage.
Popularly known as “Osuofia” after his iconic role in Osuofia in London, Owoh has captivated audiences for decades with his comedic brilliance and versatility. His extensive filmography includes classics like Ikuku 1 & 2, and he remains a cornerstone of Nollywood’s golden era.

A trailblazer in both film and television, Owoh won the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2008 for Stronger Than Pain, further cementing his status as a Nollywood legend.
“Today, we celebrate a true legend whose talent has brought joy to generations of Nigerians and Africans across the globe. Through his iconic roles, particularly as Osuofia, Mr. Owoh has etched his name in the annals of our cultural history. He used laughter and creativity to reflect our society’s vibrancy and resilience,” President Tinubu stated.
The President also expressed hope that Owoh’s milestone birthday would inspire a new generation of Nigerian entertainers, particularly those shaping the digital content landscape.
