President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Prince Doyin Okupe, a medical doctor, politician, and strategist who made a lasting impact on Nigeria’s political and public affairs.
Okupe, a native of Iperu-Remo in Ogun State, was a key figure in Nigerian politics for over three decades.
He served as Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan and as Special Assistant on Media to President Olusegun Obasanjo.

His political journey saw him take on leadership roles in various parties, including the National Republican Convention, the United Nigeria Congress Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, and the Accord Party, where he served as national leader.
In 2023, he was the Director-General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign.
Beyond politics, Doyin Okupe made notable contributions to healthcare as the co-founder of the Royal Cross Medical Centre in Lagos and as the publisher of Life Mirror, a newspaper dedicated to health issues.
President Tinubu described Okupe as a fearless and articulate advocate for national progress.
He expressed deep sorrow over his passing, acknowledging the wealth of experience and wisdom he brought to Nigeria’s development.
The President also offered his sympathies to the people of Ogun State, particularly the Iperu-Remo community, recognising the significant loss they have suffered.
He prayed for Okupe’s soul to rest in peace and for strength and comfort for his loved ones during this difficult time.
