Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu will address the nation in a nationwide broadcast on Monday (today).
Dele Alake, special adviser to the president on special duties, communication, and strategy, said the address will be broadcast at 7pm on Monday.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will make a broadcast to the nation on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 7pm,” he said.
“Television, radio stations and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.”
The broadcast might not be unrelated to spiraling inflation and the financial hardship brought on by the elimination of the fuel subsidy.
Recently, Tinubu stated he understands the suffering of the populace and reassured them that the current difficulties will give way to a more “prosperous, equitable, and inclusive economy” when meeting with APC youth leaders from throughout the nation.
“I can assure you that I understand the pains you are going through. It is not easy to get out of the monster of over 40 years called fuel subsidy,” he said.
The president previously stated that the federal government is developing policies to lessen the impact of the loss of fuel subsidies on the general populace.
“We shall without delay cushion the pains being experienced by our people as a result of these measures through a number of well targeted interventions aimed at giving adequate relief and succour to a great number of our long- suffering citizens,” Tinubu said.
