Protests Rock Ondo Over Naira Scarcity (News Central TV)

On Tuesday morning, hundreds of Ondo State residents troop to the streets in Ore to peacefully demonstrate their dissatisfaction with Nigeria’s current currency and fuel shortages.

The protest caused a standstill on the Benin-Ore Expressway, leaving travelers stranded on the road. The police had warned against the gathering, but the protestors refused to be deterred by their warnings.

The citizens’ outcry was loud and clear, a sign of the nation’s struggle and their determination not to take the situation lying down.

The Ore protest caused gridlock and left travellers stuck for hours, resulting in the intervention of security agencies in the area.

Some members of the community have faced hardship due to Naira scarcity and warned that the situation might worsen if the government fails to improve the supply of the new currency before the February 10 deadline.
