The entertainment world mourns the loss of famous Kenyan actor Charles Ouda, widely recognised as Charlie, who has passed away at the age of 38, according to a statement released by his family.
The family announced his passing on Saturday night, providing no further details about the circumstances of his death, which remain unclear at this time.
In a plea for privacy, the family requested that everyone respect the grieving fiancée, Ciru Muriuki, and the entire family during this difficult time. Ciru Muriuki, a former BBC Africa presenter, and Ouda had joyously shared news of their engagement in September of the previous year.
Charles Ouda, beyond his prominence as an actor, held diverse roles in the entertainment industry, serving as a film director, songwriter, filmmaker, scriptwriter, voice-over artist, and event manager. He also showcased his talent as a television show host. Notably, Ouda was celebrated for his contributions to the popular Kenyan kids’ show “Know Zone” and the TV drama series “Makutano Junction,” among other notable works.
Throughout his career, Ouda garnered several accolades, including the 2016 Best Director Prize and the 72-Hour Shoot Out Judges Choice Award at the Asian American Film Lab Awards.
