As Moscow looks to increase its impact on the continent, President Vladimir Putin stated on Monday that strengthening ties between Russia and Africa was a top priority for the Kremlin.
Putin further stated that if Moscow withdraws from a historic arrangement with Ukraine to permit exports from the nation’s Black Sea ports, Moscow would continue to supply the continent with grain.
In a televised speech at a conference on Russian-African relations, Putin emphasised that his nation has always given collaboration with African states precedence and will do so in the future.
In light of Russia’s growing isolation on the global stage due to the conflict in Ukraine, Putin’s remarks come as Moscow seeks closer political, economic, and military links with Africa and Asia.
