The Hawks have arrested one of the arrowheads of the Fees Must Fall campaign Bonginkosi Khanyile in connection with the recent unrest in the country.
Khanyile was arrested in JHB and transported to KZN, where he is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The 31-year-old is suspected to have been one of the people who incited public disturbances during the unrest.
Hawks Spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale said in a statement on Friday, “He was arrested at one of the higher learning institutions in Johannesburg and was escorted to KwaZulu-Natal where he was detained.”
He is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s court on Monday.
