Six police officers in Kenya were killed by suspected Al-Shabaab terrorists who seized a reservist base on Sunday, according to police reports.
The assailants targeted a police reservist camp in Biyamadhow, located in Garissa County near the Somalia border, according to a spokesperson during a press briefing.
The assault occurred early Sunday morning, and the spokesperson indicated that the “suspected militia employed various weapons to take control of the camp.”
Police confirmed six deaths, and an additional four individuals suffered injuries and were transported to a medical facility.

Al-Shabaab has been in conflict with the Somali federal government for more than 15 years, and analysts note that it has become an escalating threat in recent months.
The group maintains a presence in Boni Forest, which lies along the Kenya-Somalia border and frequently confronts Kenyan forces.
In addition, it has executed several deadly attacks further into Kenya previously, partially in retaliation for Kenya’s military intervention against the group in Somalia.
