South Africa’s Bafana Bafana will go head to head with Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the AFCON Semi-finals after edging out Cape Verde in a tough match that ended with a 2-1 victory after penalty shootout.
The two teams failed to score any goals in the allocated 120 minutes that ended in a 0-0 draw after extra time in the quarter-finals game.
However, the tensed post-match shootout saw South Africa’s Teboho Mokoena and Mothobi Mvala netting a goal each, while Cape Verde secured a single goal from Bryan Teixeira.
Bafana Bafana keeper Ronwen Williams saved the day by saving four penalties out of five, becoming an instant hero of the match.
