Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have staged a protest outside the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benin City, Edo State, expressing dissatisfaction with the results released so far in the ongoing gubernatorial election.
As of Sunday, INEC had announced results from 16 out of 18 local government areas, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leading in 10, while the PDP secured victories in six.
Chanting solidarity songs and carrying leaves, the protesters claimed that the announced results did not match those from the polling units, accusing INEC of tampering with the figures on its portal.
Some protesters alleged that the results were manipulated and called for President Bola Tinubu’s intervention.
