A Chinese engineer, currently on assignment in Kogi State was kidnapped early Thursday by suspected armed terrorists in Obangede, Okehi Local Government Area of the state.

Tragically, an officer from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), tasked with safeguarding the road engineer, lost his life in the attack.

At the time of filing this report, the identities of both the abducted Chinese national and the deceased NSCDC officer were yet to be revealed.

Although the state police spokesperson, William Ovye Aya was unable to immediately confirm the incident, he assured that additional details would be released as soon as possible.

The growing insecurity in Nigeria raises cause for concern.

Recall that on February 3, over 14 passengers of God Is Good (GIG) Motors and ABC Transport were abducted in Kogi while heading to Abuja. The incident took place in Inyele Eteke, Olamaboro LGA.

The abducted passengers, however, regained freedom after some days in captivity.
