An enraged mob in South Africa’s Cape Town killed three Pitbulls on Sunday by stoning and stabbing them. They were afterward set on fire after one of the dogs badly mauled a youngster.
The Pitbulls attacked the toddler at Gatesville, which is located in Athlone County.
It was the second time in one weekend that an incident involving dogs being set on fire has been reported to the Cape of Good Hope SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
SPCA Inspector Jeffrey Mfini arrived at the site and discovered the dogs on fire. He was able to put out the fire and save the pets. The canines’ injuries ultimately proved fatal, and they passed away. At the Grassy Park location of the SPCA, an autopsy will be performed.
The SPCA also provided further context about their position on the matter of requests for the Pitbull breed to be outlawed in South Africa.
