President Bola Tinubu has congratulated John Mahama on his inauguration as Ghana’s president, pledging Nigeria’s support for the West African nation.
Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s president from 2012 to 2017, was sworn in on Tuesday in Accra after winning a landmark election against Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party.
Speaking at the event, Tinubu described his deep friendship with Mahama, assuring him of Nigeria’s backing. “You can count on Nigeria’s support and goodwill. The bond between our nations is strong and unbreakable,” Tinubu said.
Tinubu praised Mahama as a patriotic leader and hailed his victory as a testament to Africa’s democratic progress. “This success reflects the deepening roots of democracy in Africa. We have nothing to prove to anyone except ourselves,” Tinubu added.
He wished Mahama a successful tenure, emphasising its significance for Ghana, its citizens, and the broader region.
