Nigerian Activist and Executive Director of the Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre, Okechukwu Nwanguma, said in an interview with News Central TV on Friday that President Bola Tinubu is not governing in the best interests of the Nigerian people.
Nwanguma argued that, despite President Tinubu’s public statements about reducing government spending, he has been expanding ministries, creating new government positions for his supporters, and increasing government salaries.
He pointed to the fact that government officials have been reaping the benefits of large salaries, while the people of Nigeria struggle to make ends meet.
“President Tinubu talks about reducing government costs, but he’s actually expanding ministries and creating more positions for his allies.
“He started his administration with a major credibility problem and has done nothing to address it.
“Government officials are happily taking home huge salaries every month, showing they’re more interested in themselves than in serving the people. It’s all about “my turn.”
“Tinubu is only focused on benefiting himself and his supporters.
“That is why he doesn’t seem to care about engaging with Nigerians who are protesting bad governance and hardship. He’s more concerned with his own interests than with proper governance,” Nwanguma said.
