Nigerian troops have rescued 20 kidnap victims in Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria, after eliminating two bandit kingpins.
According to the army, they terrorists were neutralised in a Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI.
One of the notorious terrorists’ leader known as Sainaje who hails from Katsina state was killed in a separate operation.
On January 29, 2024 the OPHD troops pounded terrorists’ enclaves at Rukudawa, Dumburum, Tsanu, Birnin Tsaba, Magare and Shamushalle general areas of Zurmi and Birnin Magaji LGA of Zamfara state.
The aggressive troops destroyed terrorist hideouts, as they fled their camps during a heavy contact.
After killing Sainaje from Katsina state, 18 kidnap victims comprising 4 males and 14 females as well as children were freed.
A similar operation was conducted in transit along Shinkafi-Isa road in Zamfara state.
The rescued victims were handed over to the appropriate authorities to reunite them with their respective families.
Speaking on the operations, Commander of the Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI/General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Godwin Mutkut praised the troops for their continued doggedness and resilience in an effort to restore normalcy in the Northwest.
