Tunisia’s President Kais Saied has abruptly dismissed his finance minister, Sihem Boughdiri Nemsia, replacing her with a magistrate in a move that raised more questions than answers.
Michket Slama Khaldi, previously leading a commission focused on recovering embezzled public funds, has now taken charge of the country’s finance portfolio. The announcement appeared overnight on the presidency’s Facebook page, accompanied by images of her swearing the oath of office.

No official explanation was given for the removal of Sihem Boughdiri Nemsia. No statement, no acknowledgement—just silence.
Meanwhile, Tunisians continue grappling with sporadic shortages of essential goods. Milk, sugar, and flour have become increasingly difficult to find. More recently, even domestic gas cylinders—critical for cooking and heating—have fallen into short supply, adding to the everyday struggles of citizens.
