Ons Jabeur has been knocked out of this year’s French Open in Paris, after losing 6-4 4-6 6-4 to America’s Danielle Collins.
The match between the Tunisian 30th seed and the world number 57 had been scheduled for Monday after the pair had their warm-ups and coin toss. But was delayed till Tuesday due to bad weather conditions.
After losing the in the first set, Jabeur fought back in the second by winning five successive games.
But the 26-year-old double-faulted for the first time in the third set to hand Collins a match point, with her forehand hitting the net to seal the win for the American.
Jabeur who reached the Australian Open quarterfinals earlier this year had seen of Kazakhstan’s Zarina Diyas, Nao Hibino of Japan and Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus on her way to the fourth round of the last grand slam tournament of 2020 – after it was postponed due the coronavirus pandemic and Wimbledon cancelled.
