The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has described the nuclear safety and security situation throughout Ukraine as highly precarious.
IAEA Director General’s Rafael Grossi addressed the Board of Governors in Vienna where he said the situation in Ukraine continues to be extremely fragile on several occasions. Adding that he has visited Ukraine Eleven times as he decried recent episodes of bombing close to Chernobyl site.
He pointed out that the Past few days have been marked also by, the events surrounding the delays in our rotation, which have led to an exceptional situation right now.

IAEA declared it continuous compliance with the United Nations resolutions.
The Director General also highlighted the safety situation at Fukushima, Japan, where the IAEA continues independent monitoring of ALPS-treated water discharges and ensures that safety standards are met.
He added that he and experts of the IAEA of Japan, China, Switzerland, and the Republic of Korea could take new sample and monitor the control discharge of water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
Globally, the IAEA is advancing various initiatives, including nuclear security and safety, and plans to launch ATLAS which is a framework for peaceful maritime nuclear technology.
According to the Agency, there is a growing global interest in nuclear energy, and the IAEA’s efforts are focused on promoting safety and collaboration in the sector.
The Director General emphasized the need for public support to expand nuclear energy, which is crucial for meeting global electricity demands while addressing climate change.
Grossi added that the nuclear nonproliferation regime must be protected and strengthened while reiterating that the United States and the Russian Federation are the depositories of the nuclear nonproliferation treaty of nineteen seventy.
