The Nigerian government has announced it will rename the University of Abuja after former military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.
In a media parley after the final Federal Executive Council (FEC) Meeting for 2024, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris said the decision acknowledged Gowon’s significant contributions to the nation’s development.
He, however, added that the name change process will still have to go through the National Assembly.
