Amid escalating tensions with his club, Victor Osimhen has made a significant move by removing all references to Napoli from his Instagram profile.
The Nigerian international, renowned for propelling Napoli to their first Serie A title since 1990 with an impressive tally of 26 league goals last season, found himself the subject of mockery on the official club TikTok account after missing a penalty against Bologna.
This viral trend featured an edited, high-pitched voice clamoring for a penalty, accompanied by the caption ‘gimme penalty, please,’ while showcasing Osimhen’s appeal, culminating in his unfortunate miss – a confusing episode for fans and a source of frustration for the striker.
In response to this incident, Osimhen’s agent has hinted that the 24-year-old is contemplating the possibility of pursuing legal action against the club, even though the contentious video has since been removed.
News Central has observed the removal of nearly all photos and mentions related to Napoli from Osimhen’s Instagram account, signaling a potential move toward an exit from the club.
It’s worth noting that Osimhen was heavily linked with a transfer to Manchester United during the summer transfer window. However, he ultimately remained with Napoli, and his contract is set to run until 2025. The club also underwent a managerial change, with Rudi Garcia taking the helm in place of Luciano Spalletti.
“What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted.”
He continued, “We reserve the right to take legal action and any other useful initiative to protect Victor.”
