Frustrated customers in Nigeria are resorting to violent behaviour at banks and ATMs in a desperate attempt to access cash.

This has caused some banks to increase security measures. A recent video shows bank staff fleeing through a fence for their own safety as customers storm the banks.In the video, the female staff members were permitted to make the initial move, using a ladder and the assistance of male personnel.Many have said they were not returning to work until their safety is guaranteed.

Yesterday, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun stormed the state’s branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Abeokuta, and engaged the officials over the growing hardship created by the scarcity of the new notes.

Abiodun was flanked by the Speaker of House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, and other government officials paid an unscheduled visit to the Abeokuta branch of CBN.
