Fighting has erupted in parts of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria after motorists were attacked by miscreants on Friday morning. Hoodlums in some areas along the popular Lagos-Ikorodu expressway attacked commuters, reportedly due to a shortage of new Naira notes.
The miscreants caused chaos by attacking commuters in Mile 12, Ketu, and Ojota, and there were allegedly sounds of gunshots heard by some bystanders.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and assured the public that reinforcement units had been deployed to the affected areas, urging everyone to stay safe while the situation is closely monitored and managed.
Meanwhile, civil unrest has been reported around Oke-Koto, Inwards Sofunde and Agbotikuyo between hoodlums in the area. Reports also indicate that Zenith Bank and UBA Bank in Epe area of Lagos have been attacked by hoodlums.
