The head of Zambia’s Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA), Guntila Muleya, was tragically found deceased on Wednesday, with two bullet wounds in the head and back. His family began searching for him on Tuesday when he didn’t return home.
The government has tasked the police with swiftly investigating Muleya’s murder.
“The government has asked the police to quickly and thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate death,” Thabo Kawana, the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information and Media, said.
“His body was discovered on Wednesday in the Njolwe area with two gunshot wounds,” Kawana added.
Police say they were alerted by a resident in the Njolwe area on the outskirts of Lusaka who claimed seeing a jeep with its doors open and hearing two gunshots around 8 pm on Tuesday. It said a murder case has been registered and that investigations are ongoing.
