The Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) has awarded Zimbabwe the rights to host 2019 COSAFA Cup.

The body’s secretary general Sue Destombes confirmed that Zimbabwe FA president Philip Chiyangwa, who is also the COSAFA boss, was behind the bid to have the tournament hosted in Zimbabwe.

The regional tournament is set to take place from May 19 to June 1 and would serve as an opportunity for the Warriors who are on the verge of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations an opportunity to prepare for the continental championship which begins on June 15.

Zimbabwe last hosted and won the COSAFA Cup in 2009.
