Despite recently being traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, DeKaylin “DK” Metcalf has already done one thing right.
At a press conference on Thursday, the wide receiver announced that he and American singer Normani are engaged.
“I’ve found a new home here, a new fiancée, and everything is just going according to God’s plan,” he reportedly stated.
With a gesture towards the singer, the professional football player continued, “She’s right there. Hold that rock, darling.”
Metcalf clarified that he had proposed during a recent family get-together in Houston, Texas.
During the press conference, Normani can be heard saying, “They got me good!”
Following an introduction by singer Ciara, who is married to Metcalf’s now-former Seattle Seahawks colleague Russell Wilson, the couple made their romance public in 2023.
After the revelation, Ciara shared a TikTok with a photo of Normani and Metcalf telling her and Wilson they were engaged. The Normani and Khalid song “Love Lies” is playing on the post.
“When we introduced you all three years ago, @Russell Wilson and I knew that love was genuinely in the air.” In the caption, Ciara wrote, “You guys are going to be jeered for eternity now! The most exciting news was this! We adore you all, @DK Metcalf @Normani!
Normani initially gained notoriety after trying out for “The X Factor” in 2012 and joining the girl group “Fifth Harmony,” which also includes Lauren Jauregui, Camila Cabello, Dinah Jane, and Ally Brooke.
Before Cabello departed the trio to work on solo projects in 2016, they were among the best-selling girl groups ever. After two years, the other members declared they were taking a break.
Normani has since done well with tracks like “Motivation” and “Wild Side,” and she has participated in “Dancing With the Stars.”
