Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane is in contention to start the second leg against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, after manager Julian Nagelsmann promised the returning striker more minutes on Friday.
Nagelsmann stated ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga match against Stuttgart that Mane will continue his comeback after missing the World Cup due to a leg injury.
The Senegal forward made his first appearance since November, coming off the bench for 25 minutes in Bayern’s 3-0 win over Union Berlin on Sunday. Nagelsmann suggested that Mane would come off the bench again against Stuttgart.
“He’s making a good impression. We will try and give him more minutes,” said Nagelsmann.
Nagelsmann stated that his team needed to “walk the tightrope” with team selections ahead of the “incredibly important game” against PSG while also pursuing domestic glory.
Bayern Munich leads the return Champions League match 1-0 and is level on points with Borussia Dortmund in the league.
Bayern could be three points behind Dortmund at the start of the matchday if Dortmund wins their home game against RB Leipzig on Friday, but Nagelsmann indicated that the priority was to advance to the Champions League quarter-finals.
