World-renowned Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie announced her latest book titled “Mama’s Sleeping Scarf” in an Instagram post earlier today.
This upcoming book, which is scheduled for release in September, will be the first children’s book from the best-selling author and the 11th book of her illustrious career.
Mama’s Sleeping Scarf is based on a day in the life of Adichie’s daughter and celebrates the simple pleasures of everyday life. It centers around a little girl’s affection for her mother’s scarf and the various adventures she shares with it and her family.
The book is illustrated by Joelle Avelino, a London-based artist of Congolese and Angolan descent. The story’s focus on family and the emotional resonance of everyday objects promises to make it a compelling and moving read.
