Lautaro Martinez has set his sights on a historic treble after sealing Inter Milan’s 2-0 victory over Atalanta, which extended their lead at the top of Serie A to three points.
The Argentine forward secured the win in Bergamo with his 18th goal of the season in all competitions, reinforcing Inter’s position in a tightly contested title race.
Confident about his team’s chances of replicating the 2010 treble-winning feat under Jose Mourinho, Martinez admitted that while difficult, Inter are determined to compete on all fronts.
Inter’s advantage over second-placed Napoli grew after the defending champions were held to a goalless draw at Venezia.
Meanwhile, Simone Inzaghi’s men remain active in both the Champions League and Coppa Italia, with a quarterfinal tie against Bayern Munich and two Milan derbies in the domestic cup semi-finals scheduled for April.
Inter’s latest triumph came in a feisty encounter that saw both teams reduced to 10 men, while Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini was also sent off.

Carlos Augusto opened the scoring eight minutes into the second half, capitalising on a lapse in Atalanta’s concentration following a five-minute stoppage due to a medical emergency in the stands. The Brazilian’s header from Hakan Calhanoglu’s corner put Inter in control.
Atalanta’s chances of a comeback diminished when Ederson received two quick bookings—one for dissent and another for sarcastically clapping the referee—reducing them to 10 men in the 81st minute.
Martinez then sealed the win six minutes later, moments before Gasperini was dismissed for his furious reaction to Ederson’s red card.
The heated contest continued into stoppage time as Alessandro Bastoni received the match’s third red card, but the result was already beyond doubt.
Atalanta’s hopes of a first-ever Scudetto are now fading, as they sit third, six points behind Inter with nine games remaining. The club’s struggles at home continue, with their last Serie A victory in Bergamo dating back to before Christmas.
Gasperini was particularly angered by Ederson’s dismissal, arguing it unfairly tilted the match in Inter’s favour.
Juventus in Crisis as Fiorentina Humiliate Motta’s Side
Meanwhile, Thiago Motta’s tenure at Juventus remains intact for now, but the pressure on him intensified following a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Fiorentina.
The Turin giants were outclassed by the eighth-placed Viola, whose fans—joined by club legend Gabriel Batistuta—celebrated an emphatic win at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
This latest setback comes just a week after Juventus suffered a four-goal drubbing at home against Atalanta, further raising doubts over Motta’s future.
Despite the mounting pressure, Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli insists the club remains committed to a long-term vision.
“We need to stay united—this is how you overcome a crisis,” Giuntoli told Sky. “We’re disappointed with these last two performances, but we believe we can turn things around together.”
Adding insult to injury, Bologna leapfrogged Juventus into fourth place with a dominant 5-0 win over Lazio, leaving Juve in fifth—just one point above the Roman club.
