The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, has issued a stern warning to corps members regarding the sharing of camp activities on social media platforms. During his address to the 2024 Batch A Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC Ogun State Permanent Orientation Camp in Sagamu, Ahmed emphasised the need for corps members to refrain from sharing moments captured during the three-week exercise on social media.

In a statement released on Sunday, Ahmed stressed that such moments should be reserved solely for personal consumption. He also cautioned against unnecessary journeys, particularly unauthorized ones, urging corps members to prioritize their safety above all else.

Ahmed urged corps members to make the most of their service year, emphasising the importance of productivity and goal alignment. “No single hour should go unproductive,” he stated.

Furthermore, the Director-General advised corps members to participate in the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme to become wealth creators. He highlighted the scheme’s collaboration with various financial institutions to provide interest-free loans and grants to corps members.

In her welcome address, the State Coordinator, Olayinka Nasamu, commended the participants for their good behavior and adaptation to the regimented life on camp.

As a gesture of support, the NYSC DG donated four cows and cash gifts to several categories of corps members.

Accompanying the Director-General were the Director of Special Duties, Mrs. Bona Fasakin, and the Director of the Press and Public Relations Unit, Mr. Edwin Megwa, among others.

The NYSC is a year-long program that begins with a three-week orientation course and is mandatory for all Nigerian graduates mobilised for national service.
