The Secretary to the government of Ondo State, Mr Tayo Oluwatuyi, passed away on Saturday at an undisclosed medical facility, government officials confirmed.
He was involved in a car accident on the Ife-Ibadan Road on December 19, 2024, which led to his hospitalisation.
In a statement released on Saturday by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Wale Akinlosotu, the government confirmed Oluwatuyi’s death. He described the late SSG as a committed public servant who rendered exemplary service to the state.
The statement read, “It is with profound sadness that the Government of Ondo State announces the passing of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, Secretary to the State Government, on January 4, 2025.
“He was involved in a ghastly car accident on Sunday, 15th December 2024, while travelling to Ibadan and was subsequently hospitalised.
“Hon. Oluwatuyi was a dedicated public servant whose unwavering commitment to administrative coordination, policy advisory, and implementation had a significant impact on Ondo State.
“The Government of Ondo State extends its deepest condolences to the Oluwatuyi family of Akure, friends, and associates during this difficult time.”
The commissioner added that more information regarding the memorial arrangements for the deceased will be provided as it becomes available.
Oluwatuyi was appointed as the Secretary to the State Government by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on January 24, 2024.
