Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has relieved former Police Commander Sadaq Hassan of his military rank after he was sacked by the police chief, Gen Abdi Hijar.
Somalia’s Police Commissioner Hassan Mohamed Hijar confirmed via social media Hassan’s dismissal and replacement.
The President issued a decree to this effect on Tuesday.
Sadaq was suspended for acting unilaterally to prevent lawmakers from extending the President’s term.
Lt. Col. Farhan Mohamed Adan (Farhan Qarole) was appointed the Commander of Banadir region to fill the post and was also promoted to the rank of colonel.
