A Sudanese military plane crashed on the outskirts of Khartoum on Tuesday, killing several officers and civilians, according to the army. Pro-democracy activists report at least 10 fatalities. The crash occurred during takeoff from Wadi Seidna air base, with the army confirming both military personnel and civilians were affected.
The Sudanese army, engaged in a conflict with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since April 2023, attributed the plan crash to a technical malfunction.

The Karari Resistance Committee reported 10 bodies and several injured individuals brought to Al-Nao Hospital in Omdurman. Witnesses described a loud explosion and widespread damage to homes, along with power outages in surrounding areas. The plane crash came just a day after the RSF claimed responsibility for downing a fighter jet in Nyala, South Darfur.
This escalation follows intensified fighting between the Sudanese army and RSF, exacerbating a brutal power struggle between army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and RSF commander Mohamed Hamadan Daglo. The ongoing conflict has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent memory.
