Suspect Arrested Over Alleged Human Trafficking in Ghana (News Central TV)

A 35-year-old woman was arrested in Biriwa, which is in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region. She was suspected of trafficking.

According to information acquired, the suspect, an Accra-based sex worker, travelled to Bankyea in the Western Region’s Secondi Takoradi Metropolis to find the teenager.

In an interview with Kasapa News, the victim, a Junior High School student who is 15 years old, claimed that she was at home when the suspect arrived and informed her that she had purchased materials for her and that she should go with her to the seamstress for measurements.

Later, when the victim inquired about her location from some of the passengers in a Toyota Hiace with the licence plate GE-3474-21, they responded that she was at Mankessim.

The girl crying uncontrollably wanted to return home, and so the passengers gave the suspect and the victim to the police who were on duty at the Police Checkpoint at Biriwa.

When the victim’s aunt Barbara was contacted over the phone at Secondi Takoradi, she stated that she did not know the victim’s whereabouts and was searching for her.

“The suspect is a known prostitute who has long resided in Nigeria and is currently engaged in prostitution in Accra, and I suspect she was carrying my niece for prostitution there” the aunty said.

To aid in the investigation, the suspect has been taken into custody by the police.
