The Ghanaian movie industry, Gollywood, has produced a lot of iconic stars and money banks, who are known globally. Meet three of the female actresses who are considered as some of the actresses in Ghana amidst many others.


1. Yvonne Nelson


Yvonne Nelson is a 34 year old actress born November 12, 1985 is a Ghanaian actress, model, film producer and entrepreneur. She has starred in several movies, including House of Gold (2013), Any Other Monday, In April, and Swings. She was a former Miss Ghana contestant, bust onto the movie scene with big-screen roles in Princess Tyra and Playboy.


She delved into movie production in 2011. Her first production was the movie The Price, which was released that year. She also produced Single and Married in 2012 and House of Gold in 2013. The latter won Best Picture at the Ghana Movie Awards and Best Ghanaian Movie at the 2013 City People Entertainment Awards.

Nelson founded the Yvonne Nelson Glaucoma Foundation in 2010 to help create awareness about the disease. With support from other Ghanaian celebrities, she recorded an all-star charity single and shot a video to help educate people. She also shot a video to help educate people about glaucoma. As a result of her philanthropic activities particularly in glaucoma, she was honored by GoWoman Magazine and Printex for her foundation and film career.
The actress is considered one of the richest actress with a net worth of about $900,000.


2. Jackie Appiah


Jackie Appiah is a 36 year old born December 5, 1983 is a Canadian-born Ghanaian actress.For her work as an actress, she has received several awards and nominations, including the awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2010 Africa Movie Academy Awards; and Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2007.

She received two nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Upcoming Actress at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2008. Appiah was already known to Nollywood through her many successful Ghanaian films including Beyoncé – The President Daughter, Princess Tyra, Passion of the Soul, Pretty Queen, The Prince’s Bride, The King is Mine and The Perfect Picture. Her notable Nollywood films include Black Soul and Bitter Blessing, alongside Nollywood actor Ramsey Noah and My Last Wedding, alongside Nollywood actor Emeka Ike.


In 2013, she won the Best International Actress award at the Papyrus Magazine Screen Actors Awards (PAMSAA) 2013 which was held in Abuja. The actress has a networth of about $800,000.


3. Nadia Buari


Nadia Buari was born November 21, 1982 and is a Ghanaian actress. She received two nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2009. Buari premiered on Ghanaian national television with the TV series Games People Play in late 2005.

Her first major film was Mummy’s Daughter, after which, she starred in Beyonce: The President’s Daughter. Her role as “Beyonce” was her major breakthrough. In 2013, she came out with her own movie called The Diary of Imogene Brown. She is said to have a net worth of about $100,000,000.
