The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has successfully concluded negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement with the Republic of Congo, marking the second such deal announced with an African state in just one week.
UAE Trade Minister Thani Al Zeyoudi expressed the growing scope of the UAE’s trade network, stating, The breadth of the UAE’s trade network continues to broaden as we conclude negotiations towards a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the Republic of Congo-Brazzaville – a thriving economy in West-Central Africa and valued trade and investment partner.” He shared this update on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Since 2021, the UAE has been actively initiating a series of bilateral trade, investment, and cooperation deals, termed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements. These efforts are aimed at enhancing economic diversification by expanding income sources and collaborating across various economic sectors.
In a significant move last week, the UAE, a prominent global oil exporter and member of OPEC, successfully finalised talks for a trade deal with Mauritius, marking its first such agreement with an African nation. These developments underscore the UAE’s commitment to fostering economic partnerships and strengthening its global trade presence.
